On June 30, 1981, Charlaine Harris published Sweet And Deadly. This was a standalone novel and was her first story to be published.
She released another book in 1984, but it wasn’t until 1990 that she started to regularly publish novels.
That 1990 story was Real Murders, the first installment in the Aurora Teagarden series. Several years later, she also started the Lily Bard series that was based in Shakespeare, Arkansas.
May 1, 2001 was possibly the most significant date for Charlaine though, as that was when the first Sookie Stackhouse novel – Dead Until Dark – was released. The Sookie Stackhouse series (also known as the Southern Vampire series) was met with both great critical acclaim and commercial success.
The stories were in fact so well-received that the HBO TV series True Blood was created to capitalize on the popularity.
Over the years, she’s published more than 65 novels and short stories, so to help you keep track of them we’ve produced below a complete list of Charlaine Harris books in order by publication date.
